Uruguay
underwater
We dived in Isla de Lobos, Uruguay, in early 2008. The island is located 8 km offshore the city of Punta del Este, and is reached by a 45-minute boat trip with Punta Divers. Underwater visibility was
around 10 meters and water temperature was 19°C. We obviously saw fish while diving, but sea lions were by far the main attraction, as a dozen or so sea lions dive bombed us during the dive. Isla de Lobos has the largest community of sea lions in the Southern Hemisphere, around 240,000 individuals.
