Barbuda

I dived in Barbuda in October 2005. The dives had to be arranged beforehand on the phone from Antigua with a private boat owner, then I came over by regular boat; the island is so flat that it could only be seen when the boat was very close to the pier. What I found most amazing about Barbuda, other than the diving and the pink coral in the sand everywhere, was that I walked about 20 km on the beach and the only people that I saw were two local fishermen and no tourists at all. This is truly like what most Caribbean islands used to look like back in 1980 when I lived in the region. Underwater visibility was 20 meters and water temperature was 30°C.
