The neon signs in Las Vegas are so overpoweringly bright that midnight can look like noon back in the Mojave. For non-gamblers like me, the good thing about Las Vegas is the food; almost every hotel-casino has a seafood buffet. The most famous casinos are at Las Vegas Boulevard, also known as The Strip: New York New York, Luxor, Excalibur, Tropicana, MGM, Aladdin, Bally's, Flamingo, Caesars Palace, Mirage, Treasure Island, Imperial Palace, Harrah's, Sands, Frontier, Sahara and Stratosphere. On top of the recently inaugurated 350-meter high Stratosphere I took a ride on The Big Shot, having been catapulted 50 meters into the air at about 72 km per hour. I will never do that again... it's a zero-gravity simulator consisting of a steel tower with a seat into which 16 riders are strapped before being shot to the top and allowed to free-fall back to the launch pad at the bottom. The rider will experience g forces from less than 0 up to 4 g's.
