Massachusetts
As one of the oldest cities in the United States, Boston has
deep roots in early America and a host of memorials and monuments to prove
it. Harvard, the oldest university in America, was established here in
1636. Nowadays Boston has a seasonal population of 100,000 college students.
Boston is a good city to walk in, so park your car and visit the Boston
Common and the Public Garden. Follow the signs painted red and
walk through the 2.5-Km Freedom Trail around the city's main historical
sights: Park Street Church, King's Chapel, the Old South Meeting House,
the Old State House, Faneuil Hall, North End, Paul Revere House, Old North
Church and Beacon Hill. Also worth a visit are Marketplace Center and Quincy
Market. From the Charles River one can have a dramatic view of Boston skyline:
the 60-story John Hancock Building, the Prudential Tower and Copley Place.
On the other side of the river is MIT, in Cambridge and Charlestown.
