Illinois
The architecture of Chicago, the Windy City, is impressive.
Look at the photo below, it shows only part of the city's skyline, simply
one of the most spectacular in the world. There are more beautiful buildings
to be seen than you can imagine... O'Hare Airport is the world's busiest
airport and a tourist attraction by itself. At downtown Chicago, The
Loop is the hub of the public transportation system. It's worth going
up to the observation decks of both, the 443-meter high Sears Tower and
the 343-meter high John Hancock Bldg., as they offer totally different
views. Breathtaking and amazing...

Peoria is a city that will charm you with its hospitality. The
city of Peoria is the oldest civilized settlement in the state of Illinois.
Caterpillar
has its world headquarters in Peoria. Penicillin was discovered here too.
We have come to Peoria twice to
run the
Steamboat
Classic, consistently selected as one of the top road races in
the USA by
Runner's World and
Running Times magazines.
Steamboatusually
boasts about ten to twenty Olympians in the elite field. We made great
friends with Glenn Latimer, Philip Lockwood, Chris Dierker and Mark Plaatjes.
Good ways to relax while here: take a riverboat cruise on the
Spirit
of Peoria, dine at the River Station, do some observing with members
of the Peoria Astronomical Society and spend a morning at the Wildlife
Prairie Park.
